When is Jazz at Jackson? Jazz at Jackson concerts  begin Thursday, November 5, 2015, and continue every Thursday (excluding holidays) until March 31, 2016.  Each concert will feature three sets of jazz beginning at 11 AM, noon, and 1 PM. Where is Jazz at Jackson? It is in Alamo Park on the campus of Jackson Memorial Hospital at 1151 NW 16th Street, Miami, FL 33136. From I-95, exit on 836 West and immediately exit on NW 12th Avenue.  Turn right on 12th Avenue and drive north for four blocks to the traffic light at NW 16th Street.  Turn right on NW 16th Street and drive ½ block.  Alamo Park is on your left and the parking garage is on the right. From West Dade, take 836 East and exit on NW 17th Avenue South toward Ballpark.  Turn left on NW 7th Street.  In five blocks, turn left on NW 12th Avenue.  Drive across the bridge and about seven blocks to to the traffic light at NW 16th Street.  Turn right on NW 16th Street and drive ½ block.  Alamo Park is on your left and the parking garage is on the right. From Miami Beach, take the MacArthur Causeway to 836 West and exit on NW 12th Avenue.  Turn right on 12th Avenue and drive north for four blocks to the traffic light at NW 16th Street.  Turn right on NW 16th Street and drive ½ block.  Alamo Park is on your left and the parking garage is on the right. Take METRORAIL to the Civic Center Station (less than two blocks from Alamo Park).  Walk north on 12th Avenue and make a right on NW 16th Street to Alamo Park on your left. Where do I park? Park in the garage immediately to the south of Alamo Park.  The first two hours of parking is free.  Generally, it is most convenient to drive to about the fifth level of the garage to park near the elevators on the north side which is closest to Alamo Park.

THE PATRICK LOPEZ EXPERIENCE

Tremendous musicality, versatility and the ability to entertain everyone from the casual listener to the most discriminating improvised music aficionados. These qualities have become the trademark of South Florida musician and entertainer Patrick Lopez. With performances that captivate and inspire his audiences, it’s obvious that he knows where music has been, where music is going, and perhaps most importantly, he’s not going to leave anyone behind on the journey. His rhythmically charged trumpet solos, featuring unique and spontaneous melodic fragments combined seamlessly with more traditional bebop runs show that he’s done his homework. And it’s that intense dedication to music that has given him the opportunity to perform around the globe, with European trips that include Switzerland, Germany, France and Iceland, among others. Put Patrick Lopez behind a keyboard, and yet another pleasant surprise awaits the listener. It quickly becomes apparent that he’s just as comfortable there, putting his own unique harmonic spin on everything from Pop and Rock to R&B and Latin Jazz. Listening to his original compositions is where you really start to get a sense of Patrick’s approach to music. Complex harmonies sound natural and flow together flawlessly, while simple phrases and ideas take on deep meaning. Intense, chromatic trumpet solos suddenly seem to fit with perfection. Everything just comes together, forming a musical work that everyone can enjoy. It’s this type of approach that has people eagerly anticipating his newest artistic concept, THE PATRICK LOPEZ EXPERIENCE, featuring his own arrangements of jazz standards with an electronic- based dance sound.
